Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
